Danson Sports (Youth) FC was originally formed in the summer of 2005 by the current CEO Steve Rayner to provide children from the local communities with an outlet where they could meet new friends and have fun at the same time while they learned the basics of the wonderful game.

Since then the Club has gone from having ten 8-year-old members to now having 700+ members from ages 4 – Seniors! With 58 teams, a Soccer School, 130+ Volunteer Coaches/Managers and an outstanding board of Committee Members & Trustees who give up their valuable spare time to commit to the future of the club and the children and families who are all part of it. The club is very family orientated whose sole aim is to provide football and enjoyment for children and Adults of all ages, abilities, race and gender in the local communities.

Since the club was formed in 2005 it has gone from strength to strength and has over achieved in its plans and targets for the future.

In 2013 the club was very proud to achieve ‘Charity’ Status, following on from achieving this the club also achieved one of its other priority goals which was to have our own home ground, somewhere everyone in the club could call ‘home’ this was achieved in 2014 when we entered in to a long lease with the local council on a ground in the Bexleyheath/Crayford borders called Mayplace Playing Fields. At the point of taking the grounds over the grounds, facilities and club house were very run down and through very, very hard work from Mainly the Trustees we managed to get the place up and running for the coming season. It was a fantastic feeling for all involved at the club.

Since then we have taken things a step or two further!!

With hard work, dedication, fundraising and securing funding from the Football Foundation we were able to replace the old sand based all-weather pitch (which was over 20 years old) with a brand new state of the art FIFA rated 3G facility/Pitch. The project took over 3 years and is now all up and running and a welcome addition to our amazing club and also for other local Clubs and Community Groups who are able to use it.

In 2015 we achieved another massive goal in being awarded the great achievement of becoming a Community Charter Standard Club, the biggest accolade a Football Club can Achieve again this was a very proud moment for all involved and shows the dedication and hard work that everyone at the club puts in.

We are also currently refurbishing the current club house and changing rooms and as part of the refurb we have also managed to achieve another goal of having our own Licensed Bar facilities again a lot of hard work was put in to getting this in place which eventually paid off, so as well as having Café facilities we now have a fully Licenced Bar which all helps towards the running of the Club and Facilities.

We still have lots of Goals to achieve including a brand new double storey state of the art Clubhouse (watch this space).

In fact the club has grown so much over the years with not just the football club to run but also all of the facilities.

In order for the Club/Charity and facilities to run correctly especially with all the rules and regulations that come with running a large Community Hub/Charity the club proudly now employs three full time staff and 6 part time staff and has a board of 7 Trustees who oversee everything.

We provide expert & quality training for all children from age 4 through to 18, all children also have the opportunity to become part of a team, our teams range from U6 to U21 and Senior & Vets teams. We believe in our club motto ‘Football @ Every Level’ We have teams that cater for all abilities, on one end of the spectrum we have the Children that are top achievers at this sport playing in the highest leagues, we have teams for the children that have the potential of achieving to the highest level these children play in the middle leagues and with great coaching and quality instruction they will advance higher. We have the players who have the drive and enthusiasm and use the football as a social and learning outlet because although they might not have the ability of the other children at the higher levels they still love playing football and really enjoy being with their friends regularly and learning from our fantastic coaches. All the children at our club don’t just come for the football they come to meet new friends within the community, they come to learn and they also come to keep active while enjoying themselves at the same time.

For our youngest members (age 4 & 5) we run a very popular Soccer School once a week, these players come along to learn the basics of football while having fun and meeting new friends at the same time.

Parents/Carers and players of our club have formed many new friendships during the years that we have been running and no doubt many more friendships will be formed for all the family for many years to come within our club. The emphasis on the community & social aspect of our club has and will always be the driving force and the heart of our club.

All of our Managers, Coaches Committee/Trustees are fully committed to the progress of the club which we more than prove by the voluntary hours we all put in every week in our spare time and by insuring that we not only give the best of our knowledge to the children but we also try to be positive role models as well. We are all qualified in what we do and this is with thanks to the club’s hard work and commitment in applying for funding and sponsorship that this is possible, however as you can imagine this is a very tough job to do especially with the current financial climate so we welcome any help that is offered. All of our Managers, Coaching staff and Committee/Trustees are fully DBS checked. Our Coaches and Managers hold a range of qualifications from FA Level 1 through to UEFA A License and have proven track records to show their success from turning average teams and players into potential stars.
